Dean Hommer, MD

Dr. Dean Hommer is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician with fellowship training in Pain Medicine. In addition to these board certifications, he also holds board certifications in Sports Medicine and Electrodiagnostic medicine and has been trained in several types of acupuncture. 

Dr. Hommer earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He completed his PM&R Residency and Pain Medicine Fellowship at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dean holds a Master of Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He is a Certified Physician Executive with the American Association for Physician Leadership and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality through the National Association for Healthcare Quality. 

Prior to joining the ProCare team, Dr. Hommer spent three years as the Chief Medical Officer of the Corpus Christi Medical Center, after serving in the U.S. Army for nearly 34 years in various clinical, operational and leadership roles.  During his career, he held positions as the Chief of Staff/Chief Operations Officer and Chief Medical Officer at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, as well as the Chief and Chairman of the Department of Pain Management and Chief of the PM&R Service at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He also served as the Chief, PM&R Service at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Dean is married to Kitty Hommer, a Texas Master Gardener. They have four adult children living in Maryland and Virginia.
